Kansas Buckskin Horse Association

Overview

Breeders Futurity

For the purpose of promoting Buckskin Horses and encouraging participation in Buckskin Horse activities, the Kansas Buckskin Horse Association will conduct a Buckskin Breeders Futurity for buckskin, dun, red dun and grulla weanlings in conjunction with their regular Buckskin Futurities.

  1. Donations of stallion service fees will be solicited and sold to establish a cash purse.
  2. All stallions entered into the Stallion Service Fee Auction will be published in the KBHA News Letter as they become available.
  3. A live Stallion Service Fee Auction will be conducted no later than February 1st each year. The minimum acceptable bid will be one-half of the stallions advertised fee for that year or $100.00 whichever is higher. A fee will be assigned by the Futurity Committee with the agreement of the stallion owner for those stallions standing at private treaty.
  4. For those stallions whose services are not sold at the live Stallion Service Fee Auction the Auction will remain open, and the first qualifying bid (Par 3) received thereafter and prior to July 1 will be the successful bidder.
  5. Only foals sired by those stallions whose services were sold through the Service Fee Auction will be eligible to compete in the Buckskin Breeders Futurity.
  6. Stallions and broodmares may be of any color, but the foals must be buckskin, dun, red dun, or grulla and meet American Buckskin Registry Association requirements with regard to white markings to be eligible to compete in the KBHA Buckskin Breeders Futurity. The decision of the Color Committee appointed by KBHA will be final. If the committees decision is that the foal is ineligible, there will be no refund of any monies paid in connection with the KBHA Buckskin Breeders Futurity.
  7. All entries in the KBHA Buckskin Breeders Futurity must be cross entered into their respective section of the KBHA Open Weanling Futurities and entered in the ABRA weanling class of the KBHA show.
  8. Payment schedule:

a. Mare nomination fee: $10.00 payable on or before February 1st of the foaling year. Late payments will be double the regular fee and will be accepted up to April 1st. No mare nominations will be accepted after that date.

b. Foal nomination fee: $150.00 payable on or before July 1st of the foaling year. Late payments will be double the regular fee and will be accepted up to August 1st. No foal nominations will be accepted after that date.

c. The foal nomination fee will be waived for the mare owner of the foal resulting from the stallion service purchased through the Stallion Service Fee Auction. This waiver is transferable with the mare or foal in the event of sale.

d. The foal nomination fee will be waived for one foal belonging to the owner (at time of service) of a stallion whose service fee was sold through the Stallion Service Fee Auction. This waiver is transferable to any eligible foal sired by this stallion. The Futurity Committee must be notified in writing prior to July 1st of such transfer.

e. These waivers apply only to the initial $150.00 fee and not to late nomination payments.

  1. Purse distribution. All monies collected for services sold in the Stallion Service Fee Auction and nomination fees will be added together and disbursed as follows:

a. 10% will be retained by KBHA to defray costs.

b. 5% will be paid to the owner (at time of service) of the stallion siring the winner of the weanling stallion section.

c. 5% will be paid to the owner (at time of service) of the stallion siring the winner of the weanling filly section.
