THE BUCKSKIN BULLETIN

WE’RE OFF TO A GOOD START!

Our May show was the 2nd largest compared to entries from all our 2007 shows. The new “first time” classes we offered showed promise with entries in most all. Thanks to everyone who helped make it run smoothly. Our office help, ring steward, ring crew, gate people and announcer. We couldn’t do it without you! Keep hanging those show bills and letting anyone you can think of who might be interested know about our shows. Thanks to everyone who helped get the word out. Keep up the good work!!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Most of our experienced office help will be leaving by the end of the 2008
show season. Behind the scenes these unpaid volunteers have dedicated many hours making our club a success. They print forms, take entries, keep a record of all your charges at the shows, settle your tabs, checking all the time for accuracy and that we are conforming to all ABRA rules and regulations. After the show is over, the work does not end. There are points to keep on exhibitors nominating for year end awards, and there are result sheets to complete for ABRA according to their guidelines. And then the cycle begins again preparing for the next show. Without these volunteers our shows would not be possible. These are important jobs and it will take some time to train new people to do them.

Therefore, the Officers and Board members of KBHA ask you to talk to your family members and friends. Is there anyone you know who already comes to the shows and has time, or would like to come to our shows, watch you show and help our club continue to be successful. If the answer is yes, contact one of the officers or a board member and let us know. Then ask them to plan to come to one of our remaining 2008 shows to start their training.

Did I mention that the office is air-conditioned! At some of our shows that is a reason to volunteer by itself! But seriously, consider this important request because our shows cannot continue without qualified office staff. Time worked in the office counts toward work hours for yourself or anyone you know who might need them.

WORK HOURS

Diane Harkness is recording work hours for the 2008 show season. There is a form to sign in on and write your hours down in the office. If you didn’t happen to make it into the office give Diane a call at (785) 640-2592. Remember you must have 8 hours work time recorded by the last show or pay $50.00 to be eligible for year end awards.

SUGGESTION/ COMMENT BOX

We will have a suggestion / comment box at the next shows by the announcers stand. Any suggestions are welcome and wanted. If you’d like please leave your name and a contact # so if we have a question about your idea we know who to contact.
